Join us for an important event aimed at building a healthier community in the Piedmont region. Empowering Piedmont invites coalition members to the 2nd Annual Champions in Prevention Workshop and Awards Ceremony on September 16, 2026, from 11 AM to 2 PM at the Farmville Sports Arena.

Event Details

  • Date: September 16, 2026

  • Time: 11 AM to 2 PM

  • Location: Farmville Sports Arena

Workshops

Amanda Henley and Melody Rose will present "Right Before Your Eyes," a workshop on how youth may conceal drugs and drug paraphernalia in plain sight. Sasha Johnson, MPH, CHES, will lead this year's session on opioid dangers and firearm safety — issues that continue to affect families across the Piedmont region.

Why This Matters

Opioid misuse and unsafe firearm storage are among the most serious public health and safety risks facing our communities. Education and coordinated coalition action help prevent injuries, save lives, and strengthen the support systems families rely on.

What We'll Cover

  • A review of coalition accomplishments and current projects

  • Updates on upcoming initiatives and community opportunities

  • Resources and best practices for opioid and firearm safety

  • New ways to increase engagement and collaboration among members

Honoring Our 2026 Champions in Prevention

After the workshop, we'll celebrate the 2026 Champions in Prevention — community members who've gone above and beyond to protect and uplift the Piedmont region.
